GETTING STARTED/GOING FORWARD

The new normal, as popularly discussed, will be the birth of several untold events, experiences and discoveries.

Hence, my thoughts, plan, vision needs to be reinvented with this in mind.

DO I START AFRESH OR MOVE ON, KNOWING WHAT I KNOW NOW, WHAT PRESENTS A BETTER OPPORTUNITY?

As a graduate trainee, you are more likely to get a job in a startup than in any other organisation right now!!!

Note the following

Over 37.07 million MSME’s account for more than 84% of jobs in the country (59.6 million jobs).

Also Majority of micro-businesses started with less than N50,000 in initial startup cost. Only 4.7% started with more than N300,000.

7 out of 10 MSME’s on Ngeria will remain successful that’s 70% of what we have.

FATE Foundation in partnership with BudgIT Nigeria Nigeria, gathered data from 1,943 businesses, 80 percent of which were micro businesses polled across various sectors in the country, showed hat the impact of COVID-19 on businesses in the segments as 94.3 percent of them reporting they are worse-off on their financials.

Further more, their decision to retrench staff is due to prolonged period of the pandemic, inability to pay staff, poor sales and restriction of movement.

From my research, startups I found to be doing well are those that leverage on technology for their day to day activities.

I advise basic tech skills either to get competitive edge for job offers in global brands or the remaining thriving 70% of startups or build a business with N50,000 or less.
